ProJeCt of Easton is proud to announce a transformative milestone in our 57-year mission of helping people help themselves. With six programs that empower individuals and families to thrive, this moment marks the beginning of a bold new chapter: our Expanding for Impact: Under One Roof $6.5 million Capital Campaign.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, ProJeCt has received a $1 MILLION CHALLENGE gift toward the purchase of the former Confluence Community Center at 610 W. Berwick Street in Easton’s Southside. Inspired by decades of seeing ProJeCt’s impact firsthand, the donor invites our community to match their gift and help bring our shared vision to life.

Together, we can build a lasting legacy that changes lives, strengthens our community, and invites everyone to be part of something extraordinary.

At ProJeCt, every person we serve and every supporter who stands beside them is a Barrier Breaker, creating lasting change across our community.

Helping People help themselves

Our $6.5 Million Dollar Vision:

The newly acquired 22,000 square-foot building will undergo extensive renovations to create a state-of-the-art educational facility where all of ProJeCt’s services, staff, and resources can come together under one roof. By uniting our programs in one welcoming space, we can expand our reach, streamline support, and ensure that every individual and family we serve throughout the Lehigh Valley experiences seamless care.

The renovated building will feature dedicated spaces for each of our programs, an industrial elevator, updated HVAC systems, energy-efficient windows (preserving the historic stained glass, of course), and secure entry points for key services like the Adult Education, the Food Pantry, and Early Childhood Education programs.

This space isn’t just a building—it’s a springboard for opportunity, innovation, and lasting impact.

“At United Way, our work begins and ends with service, and our employees had such a meaningful experience volunteering at ProJeCt of Easton. As a long-time partner, ProJeCt’s programs make a huge impact on our goals to advance education, build financial stability and increase access to food and housing throughout the Lehigh Valley. Thank you for your warm welcome to Easton and for sharing your important work with our staff.”

a critical expansion:
trust, security, and growth.

Our programs are designed to empower individuals and families by providing comprehensive support. However, our current facilities limit our ability to serve the community to its fullest potential. Two key factors highlight the need for expansion: increasing trust and security and creating room for future growth.

the time is now.
urgent need for growth.

Trust is invaluable for the individuals we serve, and a lack of trust in the system is one of the greatest barriers to progress within the safety net of services. Imagine the impact of having a Food Pantry case manager personally escort a client to meet with the ESL case manager—seamlessly connecting them to vital resources. This approach removes barriers like anxiety and uncertainty, replacing them with guidance and support. In contrast, simply directing someone to walk two blocks and ask for information, as our current setup entails, can create hesitation and reinforce distrust. A warm handoff fosters confidence and strengthens the path toward self-sufficiency.

the time is now: urgent need for growth.

ProJeCt of Easton has long been a trusted lifeline in our community, serving individuals through our education, food, and support programs.

Today, that number has surged to over 7,000 individuals—and continues to rise. As the need grows, so must we. Our current space on Ferry Street is no longer enough to meet the demand. We’re out of classrooms and office space.

To continue delivering life-changing services with dignity and impact, we need room to grow. This expansion is not just about space—it’s about ensuring every person who walks through our doors finds opportunity, hope, and a path forward. By breaking down barriers and creating a welcoming environment for all, we can continue to provide the resources and support that help individuals thrive.

By breaking barriers & building futures, we are HELPING PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES.

under one roof:

family literacy

Parents of young children currently drop their kids off blocks away before attending class—a barrier we can eliminate by consolidating programs into one building. Having the Early Childhood Education Classroom under the same roof as the Adult Education classrooms fosters trust and removes barriers, making it easier for families to focus on their goals.

the time is now:

adult education

Jahaira is a GED student who has been with us for several years and has two tests left to get her high school diploma. Both her children, Chelsea and Anthony, began at ProJeCt in the Early Childhood Education program and are now thriving in elementary school, thanks in part to the tools Jahaira gained through our Family Literacy Program. Jahaira is not only at ProJeCt to get her diploma, but to make Chelsea and Anthony proud of her.

Last year, 432 students, representing 41 different countries, enrolled in GED and ESL classes, but our limited classroom space left many hopeful learners on extensive waitlists. A new building will allow us to create more classrooms to accommodate the growing needs of the community.

under one roof:

ASSIST Case Management

The neighborhood of W. Berwick Street is 55% rental properties and the median household income on South Side is $63,000 (compared to about 71k nationwide).

Last year, thousands of individuals received personalized support from our dedicated case managers. By centralizing all of our services, we’ll be able to connect clients, students, and families to an even broader range of resources—with greater ease and impact.

under one roof:

food pantry

The estimated rate of children eligible for free and reduced school lunch at Cheston Elementary, which serves South Side, is 70.8%

In 2023-2024, we distributed 293,789 pounds of food. However, with our current setup, pantry clients often face logistical challenges that slow the process. A larger, more efficient space will enable us to serve more families efficiently and with dignity.

“I have been blessed with support from others in my circle and from the kind and compassionate teachers and staff at ProJeCt of Easton who believed in me when I wanted to quit many times.”

Student Success Program

The Student Success Program (SSP) is a school-based life skills and mentoring program that allows children to develop the skills needed to succeed in school. The goal of SSP is that students will increase their self-esteem, develop healthy attitudes, and improve knowledge of essential life skills to promote health, wellness, resilience, and positive personal development. ProJeCt is currently running SSP in collaboration with Easton Area School District.

the time is now:

SIZZLE!®

While SIZZLE!® is open to eligible Easton Area School District students, children of ProJeCt’s Adult Education participants receive priority enrollment. As Adult Education expands through our campaign, so will access to SIZZLE!®, allowing us to serve even more children and families.

“I look to all of my teachers at ProJeCt and I see a piece of my Brazilian parents inside you and this makes me so happy and comfortable, you embrace me with your words, captivating me like my father and mom. You are my American Family.
