What is Spark?
SPARK is ProJeCt's newest early intervention afterschool literacy program, serving first through third grade students at Cheston Elementary School who are reading below grade level. Led by educators and dedicated retired teacher volunteers, students receive intensive small-group instruction using evidence-based reading practices and individualized support. Our goal is to close learning gaps early and help every child reach grade-level reading proficiency by the end of third grade while building confidence and a love of learning. Through strong partnerships with families and the school, SPARK provides children with the foundation they need for long-term academic success.
Students are identified and selected by school staff based on reading benchmarks. Because SPARK is a school-based program, families do not apply or submit enrollment requests to ProJeCt to participate.
